Bathurst – Donald Gionet, 72, of Sutherland Ave., Bathurst, passed away on Tuesday (October 9, 2012) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Albanie and Marie (Robichaud) Gionet.
He worked for Brunswick Mines for 29 years, 3rd Degree member of the Holy Family Knights of Columbus, he served in the Armed Forces for 12 years and was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite "Margo" (Comeau) Gionet.
Two daughters: Andrée LeBlanc (Paul) of Memramcook, N.B. and Lynn Gionet Sheffield (David) of Denver, CO, USA.
3 grandchildren: Jeremie LeBlanc, Veronique Anfinnes (Daniel) and Evan Sheffield; 2 great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Lukas.
Three brothers: Jean Gionet (Carmella), and Ernest Gionet (Rita), all of Bathurst, Gerald Gionet (Carmel) of Quebec, Que. One sister, Evelyn St-Onge (Robert) of Bathurst, several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Albert.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday (October 13, 2012) at 11 a.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel, St. George St., Bathurst.
Visiting hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
