Muriel Calnan - 87, of North Tetagouche, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2009, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late James and Gertrude (Brennan) Calnan.
Muriel started her working career as a teacher in the North Tetagouche School, she then attended the Secretarial Course at Bathurst High School from there she went to Bathurst Pulp and Paper and later worked at Stairs Exploration until her retirement. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Women's League and was a founding member of the Gowen Brae Golf and Country Club and an avid golfer. Muriel had a very special relationship with her nieces and nephews, she also lived with the children of Greg and Olga during their growing years.
She is survived by:
1 brother: Gregory (Olga) of Bathurst;
Several nieces and nephews.
Sisters in law: Carol Calnan of North Tetagouche and Regina Calnan of Bathurst.
She was predeceased by:
Brothers: Daniel, John and Bryan.
Sisters: Frances, Eleanor, her twin sister Marie, and Anne.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Thursday from 9 AM until time of funeral at the Elhatton Funeral Home, St. George St., Bathurst. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 11 AM from the Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
