Mrs. Exilda Cormier - Wife of the late Richard J Cormier, passed away peacefully in the loving presence of her family at her residence on Friday (September 4, 2009) at the age of 91. Born in Nigadoo, she was the daughter of the late Hilarion and Emma (Vienneau) Boudreau.
She was a life member of the Catholic Women's League, a member of the Ladies Auxillary, S.H.C., the Knights of Columbus and the Herman J. Good VC Branch 18, Royal Canadian Legion.
Exilda lived in Bathurst all her life. She was raised by her adoptive parents, Marguerite (Desroches) and Sylvestre Vienneau. She was known as a talented pianist.
She was a devoted mother to her surviving children:
2 sons:
Richard (Diane Peters) of Rothesay;
Ronald (Liette) of Bathurst;
4 daughters:
Dianne (Ron) Northrup;
Carmel (Brian) Teed;
Jeannine (Jerry) Duguay;
Marie (James) Meagher all of Bathurst;
Half-sister:
Doris Doucet of Nigadoo;
15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, and her 2 children Carol and Gerard. Brothers, Médore, Lawrence, Delphis, Octave, Stanley and her sister, Corinne.
The body will rest after 2 PM Sunday, September 6. 2009 at the Elhatton Funeral Home, St. George St., Bathurst. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 7, 2009 at 1 PM from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St. Visiting hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Sunday and on Monday from 11 AM until time of funeral. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
