Norman Doucet
Born 18-09-1929
The death of Norman Doucet occurred October 21st, 2009 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst after a lengthy battle with cancer. His family who were continually inspired by his strength, faith and love surrounded him. He was 80 years old.
He was the sun of late Alfred J. Doucet of Beresford and late Agnes Jessie Montague of Saint John, N.B.
Besides his wife of 55 years, Cyrilla Landry Doucet, two children (Jolene Lizotte (Terry) of Sudbury, Ontario and Bruno Doucet (Mila Bon) of Toronto, Ontario survive him.
He is survived by six (6) brothers and four (4) sisters: Bill ( late Jeannine), Bathurst, Leonard (Emily), Bathurst, Gilbert (Theresa), Beresford, Donald (Marielle), Beresford, Louis (Jeannette), Beresford, Lawrence (Arlene), Amherst, Nova Scotia, Rita (late Léon Cadieux), Montreal, Della (William Lynch), Bathurst, Stella (late Edmond Duguay), Beresford, Doris (Eric Pitre), Beresford. One (1) brother, Joseph (Marie Anne), preceded him. He is also survived by four (4) wonderful grandchildren (Nicholas Lizotte, Julia Lizotte, Rémi Bon, Nadine Bon) and by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Doucet was an active member of the Knights of Columbus (1935), and the Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club. He liked to golf, curl and play cards (bridge).
The remains will rest at Elhatton’s Funeral Home in Bathurst where visitation will take place on Sunday October 25th between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and Monday October 26th between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., with Funeral Mass to be celebrated from Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Bathurst.
Norman was employed in mining exploration by Texas Gulf Sulphur and later transferred (1964) in Timmins, Ontario where he was employed for 25 years. He retired in 1989 at which time he returned in Bathurst to enjoy his retirement.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Canadian Hearth Foundation would be appreciated.
