Bathurst - Leonard J. Doucet, 79, of Vantassel ST. Bathurst, passed away on Wednesday (December 9, 2009) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late John and Leona (Doucet) Doucet.

He was pre-deceased by a son, Edmond, 2 brothers; George and Edgar.
He was a member of the Bathurst U.C.T. for 30 years. He was self-employed business man who owned and operated the former Doucet Building Services until his retirement. In his earlier years he worked for the Eddy Group Ltd. He was a self taught Artist which he loved to do during his retirement.
The family will receive relatives and friends after 2 p.m. Friday at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning (December 12, 2009) at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave, Bathurst. Visiting hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral. Donations in memory of Leonard may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital or a favorite charity.
