It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Maurice Vincent Doucet, 78, of Donald Ave., Bathurst, husband of Aline (Laplante) Doucet which occurred on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
"Buck" as he was affectionately called by family and friends was born October 15, 1931, he was the son of the late Irma and Vincent Doucet.
Besides his wife Aline, he is survived by:
Two sisters:
Elvera (Clifford) Kennah of Bathurst;
Anne Marie (Yvon) Picot of Calgary, Alberta;
He was predeceased by a younger brother, Roderick.
He will be greatly missed by his four children:
Two sons:
Michel (Monique);
Claude (Nicole), both of Bathurst;
Two daughters:
Lyne (Bill) Kiedaisch of Westport, Connecticut, USA;
Diane (Jeffrey) Poirier of Ottawa, ON;
Six grandchildren, who he loved dearly:
Eric and Julie Doucet, Nicholas and Lindsay Kiedaisch, Jeron and Brayden Poirier.
He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
In his younger days, Buck enjoyed baseball as a left handed pitcher, for which he was inducted into the Bathurst Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the CYO Baseball team. He also enjoyed bowling, curling and golf. When the Acadie Bathurst Titans hockey team made their debut in town in 1998, he became an avid fan. He was a long time employee of the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill in Bathurst.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Friday from 9 am until time of funeral at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), St. George St. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 11 am from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrews St. Donations in "Buck's" memory can be made to a favorite charity.
