Michel Farine, 82, formerly of Gagnon Street, Beresford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Bathurst. Born in Courroux, Switzerland, he was the son of the late Oscar and Lucie Farine. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Brideau), one son John (Louise) of Bathurst and one daughter Diane (David) Gauthier of Beresford; and five grandchildren whom he loved very much, Danica & Mark Farine, Katie, Michele and Emilie Gauthier. He is also survived by one brother-in-law Emile Brideau (Lucille) of Vermont, United States, several cousins and extended family in Switzerland and France, as well as many nieces and nephews. Michel moved to New York in 1948 where he met his future wife. They moved to Bathurst in 1965 with their two children. Michel was a member of the U.C.T., an avid curler and bowler. A funeral service will be held on February 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel, King Ave. Donations may be made to the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, the Regional Hospital Centre Palliative Unit or to a charity of the donor's choice.
