Bathurst – It is with great sadness that we the family announce the death of Lorne Henry, 59, of Cote Bleue, Bathurst, passed away on Monday (September 20, 2010) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of Norman Henry and the late Eleanor (Ellis) Henry.
He was employed at the former Smurfit Stone Containers, Lorne was known as a "hugger" and coffee drinker. He was inducted into the Bathurst Sports Hall of Fame in the Team Category with the Bathurst Junior B Paper Makers. Lorne loved the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially those happy hours on fishing trips. He dearly loved his daily walks with his daughter "Chickadee". Papa’s visits to Texas were also precious to his heart.
Lorne “Our Hero” is survived by his wife, Yvette (Vienneau) Henry and his father, Norman (Imelda) Henry.
Two daughters: Tammy Thibodeau (Shawn) of San Antonio, Texas, USA Carol Ann Henry (Cory Legacy) of Bathurst. Two sisters: Brenda Romolliwa (late Andrew) of Lethbridge, AB Karen McCrea (Hazen) of South Tetagouche. 3 grandchildren; Jack, Max, Claire and several nieces, nephews and good friend, Alden Luce.
The family will receive relatives and friends after 2 p.m. Monday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday (September 28, 2010) at 11 AM from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave. Visiting hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Donations in memory of Lorne may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Chaleur Palliative Community Services or a favorite charity.
