Bathurst - Léonce Chamberlain, 77, of King Ave., Bathurst, passed away Monday (September 27, 2010) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Clarence and (Eva Doiron) Chamberlain.
He worked as a Heavy Equipment operator for the City of Bathurst until his retirement.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Bibiane (Doucet) Chamberlain in 1999.
He is survived by: Two daughters; Nancy Lavigne (Harold) and Lynn Young (Tom) all of Bathurst. One brother; Valmond (Jacqueline Robichaud) of Bathurst. Four sisters; Yvonne Mundy (late John) of Sarnia, Ont., Évangéline (late Jos Thibodeau) of Beresford, Jeannette (Denis Hémond) of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Jeannita (late Ken McCarthy) of Erin, Ont.
5 grandchildren: Justin, Luc, Jessica, Melanie and Kasandra. Several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by 2 sisters; Yvette and Irène.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday (September 30, 2010) at 3 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of Funeral. Donations in memory of Léonce may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a favorite charity.
