It is with sadness that we announce the death of Stacy James Ellis of Canobie which occurred accidentally on Saturday November 20, 2010 at the age of 40.
Born in Bathurst, Stacy was the son of Murray Ellis of Canobie and the late Etha (Jagoe) Ellis .
He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend Kathy, their children Ryland, Landon and Madilyn, one brother Ricky (Karen) of Chamberlains, NL, one sister Cindy (David) of Canobie, his maternal grandparents Freda and Kenneth Carey of Canobie, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Stacy was a man of both the land and the sea. He worked as a fishing captain for several years in the family business, and for the past 12 years had been employed by Secunda Marine as a first mate aboard supply ships, navigating both Canadian and foreign waters.
Although Stacy loved both the tranquility and challenges of the time he spent at sea, he also loved to spend time in the woods. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying quiet times in front of a campfire with his family and friends, as well as fun times, especially when those times included his ATV, dirt-bike or snowmobile.
Most of all, Stacy loved and treasured his time with Kathy, Ryland, Landon and Madilyn. No matter where he sailed to or how long he was away, he was “home” wherever they were.
Stacy loved and was loved by many, and his tragic loss will leave an indelible mark on the hearts of them all.
