Bathurst – Gerald J. Vienneau, 92, of South Tetagouche and formerly of Rough Waters, passed away on Sunday (December 5, 2010) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in Rough Waters, he was the son of the late Harry and Josephine (Chamberlain) Vienneau.
He was a former employee of the City of Bathurst. He served during World War II with the Royal Canadian Army in Canada.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Bernetta (Savoy) Vienneau and a son; Lloyd.
He is survived by: One daughter; Anne Marie Lavigne (Claude) of South Tetagouche. Sisters; Leona Vienneau of Rough Waters, Pricilla Aubie of Petit-Rocher, Yvonne Dion (Roderique) of Montreal, QC, Alice Boucher of Rough Waters and Patricia Doucet of Nigadoo.
Three grandchildren, Stephanie Roy (Steeve) of Bathurst, Daryl Lavigne (Paula) of Red Lake, ON, and Heidi Labron (Robert). Two great grandchildren, Candis and Ryan. Several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning (December 8, 2010) at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Donations in memory of Gerald may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
