Surrounded by his wife and family, it is with great sadness that the family announces the death of our dear father, Gerard Vienneau, 78, of Rough Waters, husband of 52 years to Mary (Boucher) Vienneau, which occurred peacefully on Wednesday (January 5, 2011) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Albert L. and Lydia (Vienneau) Vienneau.
Until his retirement, he worked for Canadian National Railway for 38 years.
Besides his wife, Mary (Boucher) Vienneau, he is survived by his five children; Glen (Laura Aubie), Mona Barthelotte (Daniel), Donald (Nicole Doucet), Lynn Boudreau (Marc) and Denis (Monica Thibodeau), all of the Bathurst area. His 6 grandchildren, which he adored, René & Eric Vienneau, Céline & Michel Barthelotte, Samantha & Jesse Boudreau, 4 step-grandchildren, Katherine Doucet, Stephanie, Carley & Andrew Aubie and 1 step-great-grandchild, Zoey Mercier.
Two brothers; Wilfred “Bill” and John (Frances) both of Bathurst. One sister; Emerentienne “Lou” Boucher (Gerard) of Bathurst. Several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Henry (1988) and Laurent "Jo" (2010) and a sister, Isabelle Landry (2010).
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday (January 10, 2011) at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com). Donations in memory of Gerard may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation or a favorite charity.
