Bathurst – Sister Marguerite Caissie, rhsj, passed away on Monday (March 28, 2011) at the infirmary of the Notre Dame de l’Assomption residence of the Religieuses Hospitalières de St. Joseph, Vallée Lourdes Drive in Bathurst at the age of 99 years and 9 months, in her 69th year of religious community life.
Born in Grand-Digue, NB, she was the daughter of the late Jacques Caissie and the late Marie Caissie.
Besides her congregation, she is survived by; One sister, Sr. Émilie Caissie of the Sisters of Providence in Montreal. Sister-in-law, Anita Caissie (late Robert). Brother-in-law, Armand (late Eva-May Caissie). Several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was pre-deceased by 6 brothers; Édolore, Henri, Ernest, Robert, André and Roméo and a sister, Eva-May.
Sister Caissie entered the order at the Sanatorium Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes of the Religieuses Hospitalières de St-Joseph of Bathurst, on September 12, 1941 and as taken her vows to the order on September 8, 1943.
Sister Marguerite worked with Tuberculosis patients at the Vallée-Lourdes Sanatorium in Bathurst and St-Basile. She was one of the founders of the Foyer St-Camille. At the Maison Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption, where she resided for the last 40 years, she held several positions including a greeter to visitors; work in the Sacristy and with the clergy.
Visitations were held at the Notre de l’Assomption Residence, Bathurst.
Funeral Mass was from the Religieuses Hospitalières Chapel, on Wednesday (March 30, 2011) at 2 p.m.
