Bathurst – Albain Couture, 88, of Helen St., Bathurst, passed away Friday (April 15, 2011) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lucy (Cormier) Couture.
He served in World War II with the Royal Canadian Army in Canada and overseas and was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. He was a former employee of the New Brunswick Department of Transportation.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Agnes (Burns) Couture in 2008.
He is survived by:
Four daughters, Eliza (Alvin) Landry, Lucy (Armand) Couture, Mary Jean Payne, Ann Marie (Ray) Thibault all of Bathurst. Six sons, Albain jr (Shelva) Couture of Bathurst, William (Paulette) Couture of Riverview, N.B., Gary (Patsy) Couture of Bathurst, Michael (Helen) Couture of Bathurst, Wilfred (Maria) Couture of Dieppe, N.B., Derek Couture of Bathurst. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. One brother, Clifford Couture (Theresa) ofBathurst. Several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, David, 2 brothers; Raymond and Eldon, 5 sisters; Hazel, Agatha, Florella, Artémise and Violet.
There will be no visiting at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday April 20, 2011 at 10 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew Street, Bathurst. Donations in memory of Albain may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
