It is with deep sadness  to announce the death of Irene Lavigne Roy, age 88, which occurred at Le Foyer Notre-Dame de Lourdes on  Friday September 9, 2011.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Doucet) Lavigne.

She is survived by one daughter, Heather Mennie McKinnon of Montreal, QC.  Two grandchildren, Colin and Michelle McKinnon and two great grandchildren Kaden and Jaelon.  She is also survived by three sisters: Martha (late Albert Doucet) of Bathurst, Mary (late Fred Gallant) of Bathurst and Patsy (late John Tully) of Grand Junction, Colorado, also two brothers, Bill (Kay) of Port Severn, ON and Ernie(Carmel) of Bathurst and several nieces and nephews.

Previously married to Alfred Roy, she helped raise some of his nine children,  Charlie(Denise), Kenny(Nicole), Hazel(Aurele), Ann(Jean –Claude), Loretta(Adelard), Jackie(Marie), Donald(Kathy), Roger(Denise), Bonnie(Paul).

Irene was a member of Notre Dame de Rosaire parish and a faithful member of Magnificat Prayer Group. 

The body will rest after 7 p.m. Thursday at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday (September 17, 2011) at 11 a.m. from Eglise  Notre Dame du Rosaire, Bathurst. 

Donations in Irene’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Society or a favourite Charity.  Visiting hours are Thursday from 7 to 9 and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral.
