Bathurst - Mrs. Josephine "Josie" Power, at the age of 106 years and four months, formerly of North Tetagouche, passed away peacefully on Monday (November 14, 2011) at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes, in Bathurst.

Born in North Tetagouche, she was the daughter of the late James Patrick and Hannah (Foley) Brennan and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A celebration of her 106 th birthday with family and friends was celebrated on July 16, 2011 at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes.

A devout Catholic, she attended through her long life the Holy Rosary and the Holy Family churches.

She was a founding and singing member of the Holy Family Credit Union Limited, 1945.

She was the recipient of the 60 years membership pin from the Catholic Women's League of Canada (CWL).

She is survived by two sons: Allie Power (Jannette), Brennan both of North Tetagouche.

One daugther, Bernice (late Harris) Davidson of North Tetagouche.

15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren

She was predeceased by her husband Harold; daughters: Claire Picot and Elizabeth (Betty) Young; sister,  Katie Holtke (Walter); half sister,  Gertrude Calnan (James); half brothers:  Leonard and Gus Brennan.

A special thank you to her caregivers while she was cared for at home, and to Francoise and Vera who went above and beyond.

The body will rest after 2 pm Thursday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.  

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday (November 18, 2011) at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. 

Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Friday from 9 until time of funeral. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. 

Donations in memory of Josie may be sent to the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes, the Arthritis Society of NB or to a favorite charity.
