Bathurst - The death of Mearle J. Hodgins, of Victoria Ave., Bathurst, occurred on Saturday (December 31, 2011) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, with family and friends present.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Perry and Margaret (Brown) Hodgins.

Mearle is survived by his sister, Lois Campbell of Bathurst; nephews: Alex and Clark. He also has cousins in Bathurst, Halifax and Toronto.

He was pre-deceased by his brother, Allan in February 2011.

Mearle was employed by MSA Inc. from 1978 until his retirement. He held different positions with the company in Edmonton, Alta., Vancouver, B.C. and more recently in Toronto, Ont.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal service.

Burial will be in the United Church Cemetery, St. Anne St., Bathurst in the spring.

Donations gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
