It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Marie Antoinette "Tonie" (Lapointe) Brown. An 8-year resident of The Foyer Notre Dame De Lourdes Tonie was called home on March 16th at the age of 80 years. Her husband, Alfred Owen Brown, predeceased her in 1987.
The daughter of the late Walter and Cecile (Legacy) Lapointe of Bathurst, Tonie leaves behind five devoted children: Owen (Beverly) Brown of Dartmouth, NS, Mitch (Jeannine) Brown of Gloucester Junction, Melissa (David) Caissie of North Tetagouche, Laura Brown and Jeff Brown both of Bathurst. She was a loving grandmother to Kayla, Katherine, Kristien and Keashaw.
Toni was sister to Lovena Anderson, Patsy Schoolcraft, Florence Galliah, Alice (Donald) McLean, of Bathurst and Anne (Maurice) Parker of Campbellton. Brothers Frankie and Harvey (Alma) Lapointe and a sister, Claudia (Albert) Bourdage, predeceased her.
Her family that included many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends will remember Tonie with great respect. Since 1991, she endured a heavy burden of sickness and pain and carried her cross with acceptance, perseverance, and faith. Her welcoming smile taught us to respect the true meaning of humility, patience, wisdom, determination, and strength. Never one to utter a complaint she continually touched the hearts of those whom knew and loved her – a true angel in disguise.
Visitation will be at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst on Tuesday (March 20, 2012) from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday morning (March 21, 2012) from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at the Holy Family Church at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Foyer Notre-Dame de Lourdes Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
