Bathurst - Alfred Bennett, 73, of Robertville, passed away on Saturday (September 1, 2012) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Leonard Sr. and Laura (Ward) Bennett.
He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Lois (Blanchard) Bennett.
Alfred worked in mining and as a transport driver for most of his life.
Besides his spouse, Léona Verdon.
He is survived by four sons: Alfred (Tonya) of Edmonton, Alta., Gilles (Deborah) of Halifax, N.S., Allen (Katie) of British Columbia and Earl (Dolores) of Alberta.
One brother, Clifford of Bathurst.
Four sisters: Marcella Roy, Margaret Savoie (Lucien) and Blanch Young (Gordon), all of Bathurst, Annie Carmel (Gilles) of Dorion, Que.
Léona’s children: Diane Lanteigne (Lucien) of Dunlop, Monique Bossé (Michel) of Mont-Joli, Que., Gisèle Frenette (Norbert) of Saint-Laurent, Jean-Guy Verdon of Robertville and Nathalie Verdon (Andrew Fraser) of Moncton.
3 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by several brothers and sisters.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday (September 5, 2012) at 4 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Alfred may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
