Bathurst –It is with great sadness that we the family announce the death of Roméo Bourque, 91, of Reese St., Bathurst, passed away on Wednesday (September 26, 2012) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Wilbrod and Rose (Frenette) Bourque.
He was lifetime employee of the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill. He was quite active; walking, cross country skiing and biking. He was a creative artist who hand carved an array of artwork, which he adorned his home with. In later years, he could be seen sitting outdoors, under his parasol, enjoying the sun and life.
He is survived by his children: Claudette Gray (Wallace) of Pabineau Falls, Rose Devereau (Lawrence) of Bathurst, Jean Guy (Barb) of New Jersey, USA, Bernadette Ward (Eddy) of Montreal, Jacqueline Bourque of Montreal, Denise Dumaresque (Rene) of Beresford, Marc of Nigadoo and Rev. Daniel (Louise) of Montreal.
Two brothers: Rheal "Butch" (Phyllis) and Adrian "Buddy" (Leona) both of Bathurst and a sister, Irene Pitre (Damas) of Montreal.
17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Priscille (DeGrace) Bourque, 4 brothers, 1 sister and 1 grandson.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Sunday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday (October 1, 2012) at 2 p.m. from the Evangel Pentecostal Church, Basin St., Bathurst. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 an 7 to 9.
In memory of Roméo, donation to Canadian Diabetes Association, to the Palliative Care at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst would be appreciated by the family.
