Bathurst – It is with great sadness that we the family announce the death of our mother, Mrs. Rita (Valentine Dugas) Thériault, 88, wife of the late Edgar Thériault, of the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes and formerly of Vanier Blvd., Bathurst, which occurred Tuesday (October 16, 2012) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Caraquet, she was the daughter of the late Émile H. and Laura (Basque) Dugas.
She is survived by her three children; Yvette (Paul Gendreau) of Ottawa, Irène (Gérard Noël) of Bathurst and Émile (Manon) of Moncton. Three daughters-in-law ; YiPing Ding (late Paul), Phyllis Dalley (late Claude) and Marguerite Roy (late Jean). Thirteen grandchildren; Marc, Mathieu, Emilie, Simon, Roger, Julie, Christine, Danielle, David, Maxime, Lee, Alexis and Gabriel. Nine great-grandchildren; Evéline, Florence, Alice, Rosalie, Médéric, Jasmine, Alexandre, Zachary and Viola. Two sisters; Géraldine (late Wilfred Melanson) of Rogersville and Réjane (late Jean-Louis Pinet) of Bathurst. One half-sister; Lucienne (Émile Dugas) of Maisonnette. Two brothers; Valbert (Corinne) of Dieppe and Normand (Jocelyne) of Shippagan. One adopted brother; Cléophas Plourde (Wilma) of Riding Mountain, Manitoba. Several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edgar (1983), her sons; Paul (2008), Claude (2011) and Jean (2012), as well as a sister, Martina (Landry) (2005).
Before her retirement, our dear mother was a teacher (1942) and a Registered Nurse (1947). She was an active volunteer, especially in her Church and Christian Community. She will be remembered for her "Joie de Vivre".
The body is resting at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday afternoon (October 18, 2012) at 4 p.m. from Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Bathurst. Visiting hours are Thursday from 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 p.m. until time of Funeral. Donations in memory of Rita may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or a favourite charity.
