It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Pearl Pitre, 82, wife of the late Alex Pitre (1998), of Young Street, Bathurst, on Wednesday (October 17, 2012) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Doyleville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Flora (Esliger) LaPointe.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by four sons: Gregory (Robyn) of Dalhousie, Gordon (Jeannine) of Bathurst, Gary (Doreen) of Saint John, Darryl (Paula) of Riverview; and one daughter, Donna Doucet (Peter) of Fort Mac Murray, Alta.
She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren: Shannon, Alex, Sandra, Michael, Jason, Jamie, Todd, Shawn, Matthew, Nathan, Danie, Sacha, Jodie, Krystyna and Kara.
She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by one infant brother, Daniel Jr., one brother, Ernest LaPointe; sisters: Margaret Doucet, Agatha Thibodeau, Elizabeth White and Nora Landry.
She was a longtime member of CWL of St. Theresa Parish and recently CWL of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Ladies Auxiliaries of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18 of the Royal Canadian Legion and Auxiliary member of the Knights of Columbus 1935, Art Society, Heritage Club, Red Hat Society. She was a promoter of The Central Association of The Miraculous Medal for over 60 years.
She was an avid curler, artist, hunter, enjoyed fishing and poetry; of which many poems and stories were published in The Northern Light.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Friday at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning (October 20, 2012) at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Visitation times are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral.
