Bathurst – It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Mrs. Hilda Eleanor Cormier, 97, wife of the late Percy W. Cormier, of Miramichi Ave, Bathurst, passed away on Saturday (October 20, 2012) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Gardiner Point, Northumberland Co., N.B., she was the daughter of the late William Williston and Catherine Jane (Gardiner) Gulliver.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Percy W. Cormier in 1999; an infant son, Joseph in 1949; five brothers: Phineas, Winston, Leonard, William, Roy; two sisters: Lorna McKenzie and Anne Cormier.
She is survived by one son, William J.K. Cormier of Bathurst; one daughter, Sheila Colwell (Edward) of Bathurst; 3 grandchildren: Sonya Colwell (Luc) of Moncton, Michael Colwell (Charlene) and Matthew both of Bathurst; 1 special great-grandson, Spencer Edward Colwell; one sister, Lillian Brune of Winnipeg, Man., several nieces and nephews.
Hilda was a Registered Nurse Graduate in 1937 from the Sir James Dunn Hospital, Bathurst. She worked with her husband for many years at W.J. Cormier Co. Ltd. She was a life member of the former Mount Carmel Catholic Women's League and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst. She was an avid quilter and seamstress and enjoyed cooking, gardening, travelling, listening to music (especially Daniel O’Donnell) and spending time with her family.
She will be missed by the many lives she touched over the years.
The body will rest on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst. She will be transfer the Miramichi for visitation on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Adams Funeral Home, Miramichi.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday (October 27, 2012) at 11 a.m. from St. Michael’s Basilica Church, Miramichi. Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bathurst.
