Bathurst - Mrs. Irene Van der Pluijm, 87, wife of Tony Van der Pluijm, formerly of Bayview Court, Bathurst, passed away on Thursday (November 1, 2012) at the Robert L. Knowles Veterans Unit, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Catherine (Doucet) Tremblay.
She was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18, Royal Canadian Legion and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary, Bathurst and member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Catholic Women’s League, Bathurst. She was a retired nurses aid.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons: Anthony "Tony" (Bonnie) and Stephan (Johanne) both of Bathurst. Two daughters: Jackie Picot (Paul) and Cathy Van der Pluijm (Marc white) both of Bathurst.
13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandaughter.
Two brothers: Sonny Tremblay (Francis) of Alberton, PEI and John Tremblay of Saint John. Two sisters: Mary Walsh of Campbellton and Doris Larmond (Bill) of Tecumseh, Ont. Several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Nancy and a son, Peter; two brothers: Jerry and Freddy.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday (November 5, 2012) at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Irene may be made to the Robert L. Knowles Veterans Unit or a favorite charity.
