Bathurst - Mrs. Mary Helena Leger (also referred to as Adeline), wife of the late Adolphe Leger, of College Hill, Bathurst, passed away peacefully, with family at her side, on Thursday (January 10, 2013), at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 94.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Anna (Hachey) Vienneau.
She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Women's League, Bathurst.
She is survived by eight children: Anita Baker (Victor), Yvette O'Neil (Brian), Ernest Leger (Elizabeth), Simonne Boudreau (Norman), Jeannine Vienneau (Ronald), Lorraine Herygers (Rick Carmichael), and Anne-Marie Babin (her beloved foster child of 47 years), all of Bathurst, and her adopted son, Jacques Leger of British Columbia.
She will be fondly remembered by her eighteen grandchildren: Christine, Susan, Karen, Kevin, Linda, Lynn, Diane, Sandra, Keith, Roger, Julie, Michelle, Rickey, Andrew, Jean-Marc, Laura, Lorraine and Darlene; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by four sisters: Florence Roussy (late Eugene) and Marion Ivey (late Murray) both of Bathurst, Margaret Roy (late Medric) of Petit-Rocher and Josephine Lavigne (late Alphonse) of Montreal.
One brother, John Vienneau (Anna) of Bathurst.
Many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by several foster children that still refer to her as "Mom" to this day.
Besides her husband, Adeline was pre-deceased by a son, Roger Leger (Patricia); a brother, Emile Vienneau (Evangeline) and two sons-in-law: Harold DeCoste (Yvette), Bill Herygers (Lorraine).
Her special friend, Lawrence Luce pre-deceased her in December 2012.
The family will receive relatives and friends after 2 p.m. Sunday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday (January 14, 2013) at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst.
Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Donations in memory of Mary Helena may be made to the Palliative Unit Care of the Chaleur Regional Hospital or to a charity of the donor's choice.
