1934 – 2013
Surrounded by his immediate family at Chaleur regional Hospital in Bathurst where he practiced medecine for 29 years, passed away peacefully, Tuesday May 21st 2013, at the age of 79, Antoine Joseph Mazerolle, husband of Octavie Doiron.
Born in Inkerman (N.B.), he was the son of the late Jérémie Mazerolle and of the late Lydia Power.
Graduate of Université du Sacré-Coeur (Bathurst) in 1955 and of the Faculty of medecine of Université Laval (Quebec) in 1961, it was after a stint in the Canadian Army that he began his career as a general practitioner in Shippagan, followed by a few years working for New Brunswick’s Department of Health. Family practitioner serving many generations of friends and neighbors in the Bathurst area, it's from 1970 to 1999 that he left an indelible mark on his community.
He leaves to mourn him his wife; his four children: Bernard, Charles, Denise (Stéphane Roy), and Marie-Hélène (Michel Boudreau).
His six grandchildren: Christine, Olivier, Elizabeth, Isabelle, Martin and Sara.
Aas well as his five sisters: Lucie, Agathe, Jeannette, Simonne and Clara.
He was predeceased by seven sisters and seven brothers.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. from The Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst.
In memory of Dr. Mazerolle, a donation to the Arthritis Society or a favorite charity would be appreciated by the family.
