Bathurst - It is with great sadness that the family announce the death of Léo Doucet, 81, formerly of East Bathurst, which occurred Monday, January 5, 2015, at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes, Bathurst.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Benny and Malvina (Chiasson) Doucet.
He was a former employee with the City of Bathurst until his retirement.
Besides his wife, Melrose (Larocque) Doucet, he is survived by two sons: Donald (Ernestine Guignard) of Allardville and Michel of Bathurst.
One daughter, Emilienne Doucet (Gilles Noël) of Haut-Lamèque.
Four grandchildren: Mathieu, Sébastien, Louis-Pascal and Vanessa.
Three brothers: Gérard Doucet (Jeanita), Léon Doucet (Rose Marie) and Alcide Doucet (Monique) all of Bathurst.
Three sisters: Emélina Chiasson (late Alcide) of Bathurst, Eva Chiasson (late Aurèle) of Chiasson Office and Thérèse Ross (David) both of Bathurst.
Two sisters-in-law: Jeanne-Mance Larocque (Réginald) of Haut Lamèque and Colette Larocque (late Fernand) of Laval, Que.
His mother-in-law, Victorine Larocque (late Thomas) of Lamèque.
Several nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank from the bottom of their hearts, the care given to Léo at home by Aline, Lucie, Monique, Thérèse and also the care given at Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes.
The family will receive relatives and friends after 2 p.m. Wednesday January 7, 2015, from Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com) St. George St., Bathurst, from where the funeral service will be celebrated at 4 p.m.
Donations in memory of Léo may be made to the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Foundation, Parkinson Foundation or a favorite charity.
