"Johnny the Fiddler"
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John W. Vienneau of The Royale, formerly of Raymond Avenue (College Hill), Bathurst, NB, which occurred on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst. John was 95 and 9 months old.
Born in Bathurst he was the son of the late Wilfred and Marie Anna (Haché) Vienneau.
Johnny entertained many crowds with his fiddle music over the years at kitchen parties, wedding receptions, Saturday night dances at the Salmon Beach Hall etc. He was a proud member until recently of Roger Lanteigne's group of musicians "Les Violons Acadien". He also enjoyed jamming on weekends and entertaining many along with his brother-in-law Aldéo Robichaud, his dear friends Ben Boudreau, Victorin Doucet, Raymond and Anita Doucet as well as many other musicians that he enjoyed playing music with over the years.
He is survived by his loving wife Anna (Robichaud) Vienneau, (they would have been married 74 years in November), his son Steven and his wife Nancy, granddaughter Stephanie, all of Bathurst and grandson James and his wife Kim and great-grandchildren, Emily and Joshua all of Rothesay, NB.
He also leaves behind his sisters, Marguerite Roy (late Médéric) of Petit-Rocher and Joséphine Lavigne (late Alphonse) of Quebec City, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Jean-Claude (John) Vienneau in April, 2016, as well as his brother Emile, his sisters, Adeline Leger, Florence Roussy and Marion Ivey.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, 4th East and Palliative Care Unit for the excellent care provided to John during his stay.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday evening, October 8, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) , St. George St., Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2017 from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave, Bathurst.
Donations in memory of John may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
