It is with great sadness that the family of David Gammon of Bathurst announce his passing which occurred peacefully surrounded by family members at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on November 16, 2018. David was born and raised in Bathurst and was the only son of the late Benjamin and Annie (Ronalds) Gammon.                                                                                                                                                      

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley (Clouston) Gammon and two sons: Blake (Anne-Marie) of Bedford, NS and Ian of New Glasgow, NS and his loving grandchildren: Jonathan of Toronto; Sean and Taylor of Calgary. David is also survived by his brothers-in-law: Donald Clouston (Anne) and Glayne Clouston (Donna) both of Moncton; sister-in-law, Connie Jagoe of Bathurst and daughter-in-law, Karen Dimen of Calgary.

Besides his parents, David was pre-deceased by his son, Blair Gammon of Calgary in June 2018.

David attended the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton and graduated with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree in 1957.  Following graduation, he was employed by the former Bathurst Power & Paper Co. Ltd., as Superintendent of Machines for 21 years and later with Weavexx Canada in professional sales for 19 years until his retirement in 1989. David was a member of the Canadian Professional Sales Association of Canada and a member of First United Church, Bathurst. He was an avid sports fan with a love of golf, curling, hockey, baseball and most other sports, having played in many of these. Gardening was also a passion of his.

The family will receive family and friends at Elhatton’s Funeral Home, Bathurst on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. A service to celebrate David’s life will be held at First United Church, Bathurst on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 2:00pm.  A reception will follow the service at the Donald Eddy Memorial Hall. Interment will be in the spring at the Highlandview Cemetery, Bathurst.

Donations in memory of David may be made to the First United Church, General Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
