Bathurst - Mrs. Deloria Blackett, wife of the late Karl Blackett, of Chaleur St., Bathurst, passed away on Friday February 4, 2022, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 85.
Born in South Tetagouche, she was the daughter of the late John and Lucy (Henry) Guitard.
Our mom had class, dignity and style. She had a great sense of humour. She was a humble woman who often thought of others. She worked hard to provide and raise her family on her own. She was such a selfless person. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also, her fur babies, Nutmeg and Maddy. She loved a good card game and playing scrabble.
We were fortunate and lucky to have her as our mom. She took great joy in outdoor activities, sewing, baking, knitting and gardening. She also participated yearly for Cancer Relay for Life. She was an active member of CNIB. She will always be loved, missed and in our hearts forever.
She is survived by five children: Marjorie Blackett and Donna Blackett both of Niagara Falls, ON, Cindy Duguay (Wayne) of Big River, Janice Blackett (Barbara Legacy) of Bathurst and Shawn Lewis of Hillsborough, NB.
Six grandchildren: Sally, Cory, Jaime, Jason, Christopher, Darien and six great-grandchildren: Ryan, Ethan, Adrian, Chad, Avery and Logan.
Two brothers: John Guitar and Louis Guitard (Marlene) both of Delhi, ON.
One sister, Alma Pitre (Roger) of Beresford.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by a brother, Mark.
We would like to thank Prestige Residence for their support and care. We would also like to thank the nurses and doctors in the Covid unit and palliative care for their compassion and care.
Any donations can be in memory of our mom to the Canadian Cancer Society and/or Bathurst Animal Shelter.
