It is with sadness that we the family announce the passing of Eileen Mallet at the Villa Sormany in Robertville. Her sons were by her side at the time of her death. Eileen had reached the age of 101 years and 9 months. She was the spouse of the late Marc Mallet and previously resided on Donald Avenue in Bathurst.
Born in Tracadie, she was the daughter of Alfred James Witzell and Ellen Ferguson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Eileen is survived by her three sons Arden (Bonnie) of Bathurst, Patrick (Paula) of Petit-Rocher and Alfred (Glenda) of Bathurst, her daughters-in-law Denalda Ferguson (late Wallace) of Guelph, ON and Twinksey Mallet (late Clayton) of Rimouski, Qc; her grandchildren Karen of Ottawa, Danielle (Serge) of Calgary, Melanie of Ottawa, Josée-Anne (Jeremy) of Hampton, Natalie (Gervais) of Petit-Rocher, Marie-Claude (Antoine) of Bathurst, Sherry (Arnold) of Acton, ON, Jeff (Wanda) of Brampton, ON, Mark (Cheryl) of Vancouver Island, BC, Michel (Nicolas) of Moncton, Christian (Ève-Julie) of Montreal, her step-grandaughter Shelley of New York. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren- Alexandre, Catherine, Noémie and Myriam.
Eileen was a member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral CWL and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Chaleur Regional Hospital. She had worked in many commercial enterprises but mostly at Fransblows. She had been co-owner of Glen’s flower shop in Bathurst.
Eileen loved playing cards with her friends and also enjoyed bowling with her husband at the old parish hall. She cherished the moments when all her sons and their families would gather for the holidays.
She rests now with her husband Marc, her son Clayton, her adoptive son Wallace, her parents her sisters Edith, Edna and Lil, her brother Kenneth and her step-grandson Scott.
In memory of Eileen a donation to the Alzheimer Society or Parkinson society would be appreciated.
The family wishes to extend a very deep appreciation to the management and staff of the Villa Sormany who gave our mother the greatest care possible. We also wish to thank Dr Goulard for the care he extended to our mother.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday May 19th at 2 p.m. from Holy Rosary Church.
