Nigadoo – It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Daniel « Dan » Comeau, husband of Thérèse (Clément) Comeau, of Nigadoo, who passed away on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst at the age 81.
Born in Nigadoo, he was the son of the late Richard Comeau and Alice O’Neil.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Roland (late Jayne Sunninge) of Nigadoo, daughters: Denise Comeau-Poirier (Roland) of Dieppe, Jocelyne Comeau (Dave Smith) of Saint John and grandchildren: Danika Cynthia Poirier of Dieppe, Kimberli Hopkins of Ottawa and Brandi Kelly of Saskatoon.
He is also survived by brothers: Rev. Hector Comeau, Eudist of Charlesbourg, QC, Ernest
Comeau (Jeannine) and Philippe Comeau (Rosa) both of Bathurst.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Aurèle (late Jacqueline), sister, Marguerite (Léandar) and two infant sisters: Carmelle (1927) et Carmelle (1936).
Daniel was a municipal councillor for the Village of Nigadoo from 1972 to 1975 and Mayor from 1975 to 1984. During those years, he was involved with many committees.
He was extremely proud of his native village.
Daniel worked as a salesman at Hatheway Ford Ltd., Bathurst for 30 years. He also worked at the former Belledune Smelter for many years.
Those who knew Dan, will remember him as an honest, happy and compassionate man who had integrity.
The family would like to the Extra Mural Program, his family doctor, Dre Ève-Marise Boudreau, Dre Sylvie Robichaud and all the other doctors and medical personnel who cared for Daniel.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday May 12th at 2 p.m. from St.-Polycarpe Church in Petit-Rocher.
In memory of Daniel donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
