With celebration of a life well lived, we the family, announce the passing of Loretta “Etta” (Good) Smyth, wife of the late Sanford Smyth, which occurred at the Foyer Notre Dame-de-Lourdes on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the age of 98.
Born in South Tetagouche, she was the daughter of the late Jonathan and Annie (MacMillan) Good. She was the youngest of 10 children and was the last living member of her family.
She is survived by daughters: Betty (Pat) Murphy, Beverly (Murray) Branch and son, Roland (late Jeanine) all of Bathurst. Daughter-in-law, Sandra (late Perley) of Bathurst.
Her grandchildren: Michael David of Tennesse, Darla Buraglia (Marc) and Allen Pitre all of Bathurst, Kurt (Stephanie) MacIntosh, Shayla MacIntosh (Bryce Meekins) and Vanessa Smyth all of Moncton, April Gauthier (Barent Fox) of Aliston, ON and Denver Smyth of South Tetagouche.
She is also survived by her extended family grandchildren: Debbie Miller, Trish Ellis, Sean Murphy, Christina Kennedy, Jimmy Stothard, Travers Branch and Heidi Branch.
She was very proud of all her great-grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren.
She was a member of the South Tetagouche United Church, South Tetagouche United Church Women, Upper Gloucester Women’s Institute and Bathurst Agriculture Society.
She was predeceased by her husband, Sanford, son, Perley, grandson Sheldon David, daughter-in-law Jeanine (Valcourt) Smyth, sisters: Ina, Marion, Agnes, Alice, Geraldine and brothers: Elvin, Lyall, Ervine and Robert.
The family would like to thank Dr. Eve-Marise Bodureau, the staff of Wing B and the Palliatve Care Unit at the Foyer Notre Dame-de-Lourdes for the excellent care and compassion.
The family will receive family and friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday May 10th, 2022 at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com). A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 11th at 11 a.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick St., Bathurst. Masks are required to attend the visitation and funeral.
Donations in memory of Loretta may be made to the South Tetagouche Cemetery or the S.P.C.A.
