Bathurst - Aurele 'Felix' Hachey, 80, of Dawson Court, Bathurst, passed away peacefully on Sunday (March 12, 2006) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Joseph Jerome and Brigitte (Pitre) Hachey. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret (Vienneau) Hachey. Two sons: Roland Hachey (Lisa Roy) of Bathurst Harvey Hachey (Rachel Lisa Lang) of Grand Falls, NB Six grandchildren; Derek, Cynthia, Marshal, Megan, Philippe, Sonia, two great-grandchildren; Alex and Jaime. One brother: Lionel Hachey (Therese) of Bathurst Several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, John and Jerome and a sister, Josephine. He enjoyed a successful career of 33 years with the Bathurst Fire Department retiring in 1990 as Assistant Deputy Chief. He also worked for the City of Bathurst, at the Water Treatment Plant and for Gray's Velvet Ice Cream. He was an active member of the Maritime Fire Chief's Association and the Chaleur Firefighters Association. Aurele was a very caring person who truly loved and cherished the time spent with his wife and all members of his family. He will always be remembered as a person who enjoyed life and brought a smile to all who knew him. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and snowmobiling with his family and friends. His generosity touched many, when asked for a favor, the instant response was always "no problem", and he would follow through. He treated his friends like family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive relatives and friends at Elhatton's Funeral Home, St. George St., on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 only. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery in the spring.
