Bathurst – It is with great sadness, that we the family, announce the passing of Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” Murphy, wife of Patrick Murphy, of Varrily St, Bathurst, which occurred Wednesday December 27, 2023, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 79.

Born in South Tetagouche, she was the daughter of the late Sanford and Loretta “Etta” (Good) Smyth.

Besides her husband, she is survived by six children: Michael David of Tennessee, USA, Allen Pitre, Darla Buraglia (Marc), Debbie Miller (John) and Sean Murphy all of Bathurst and Patricia Ellis (Randy) of South Tetagouche.

Ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A sister, Beverly Branch (Murray) of Bathurst.

A brother, Roland Smyth (Violet Imhoff) of Bathurst.

Several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by a son, Sheldon and a brother, Perley.

There will be no visitations at the Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 2nd, 2024, at 2 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick St., Bathurst. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.

Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a favorite charity.
