Robertville - It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the death of Mr. Hector J. Blanchard, beloved husband of Anita (Haché) Blanchard, who passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst at age 88. Hector was greatly loved and respected by his family and friends and leaves behind an immense void.
Born in Lugar, he was the son of the late Eddy Blanchard and the late Lorette Landry.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children: Rodrigue (Anne-Marie Comeau) of Sainte-Louise and Carole (Patrick Foran) of Whitby, as well as six grandchildren: Tania, Monica, David, Lisa, Vanessa and Sarah, and 7 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his five sisters: Catherine (late Ivan Bujold), Marie-Anne (late Roméo Boudreau), Simonne (Laurent Blanchard), Évangeline (Roger Tremblay), Aurélie (Ken Lakham); his three brothers: Armand (Arnolda Comeau), Patrice (late Raymonde Pinet), Jean-Claude (Ann Fraser), an adopted brother Gérald Boucher (Angèle Pitre) and several nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents, he is now resting with his sisters Dorine (late Laurier Bouchard) and Marie-Rose (George Frenette).
Hector lived a life rich in experiences and accomplishments. A Truck & Trailer and Heavy Equipment mechanic, he worked in this field in the mines and also for the Bathurst Ready mix company. He was an instructor of the mechanic trade at NBCC until his retirement. Pursuing his passion for aviation, he became a private pilot and owned his small plane. Many people in the region remember their first airplane flight with Hector at the controls.
There will be no visitations at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday May 13, 2024, at 2 p.m. from Sainte-Thérèse-d’Avila in Robertville. In memory of Hector, a donation to the Sainte-Thérèse-d’Avila parish in Robertville would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home (www.mfheritage.com), Beresford.
