Nigadoo – It is with great sadness that we the family announce the death of Marc Bourque, of Nigadoo, which occurred Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 67, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with illness.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Roméo and Priscille (DeGrace) Bourque.
He is survived by his children: Véronique Bourque (Brad McLellan) of Bathurst and Priscille Bourque (David Bartok) of Nanaimo, BC. His partner, Marlene Harvey.
Four grandchildren: Alexia, Emma Rose, Brooke, Aaron, and two step-grandchildren: Max and Marley.
Three sisters: Claudette Gray (Wallace) of Big River, Denise Dumaresq (René) of Beresford and Jacqueline Bourque of Montreal.
One brother, Danny (Louise Tétreault) of Montreal.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by a brother, Jean Guy, sisters: Bernadette Ward and Rose-Marie Devereaux and a close family member Anthony Stefanacci.
Marc worked as a Sales Representative for Frito-Lay for 27 years, where he was highly regarded for his dedication and hard work. After retiring from Frito-Lay, Marc continued his service to the community by working as a prison guard for the Bathurst City Police until his illness.
Marc fought a strong battle and remained a source of strength for those around him. He was immensely proud of his daughters and grandchildren, always sharing stories of their accomplishments with a smile. In the summer, Marc could often be found driving his beloved Mustang convertible, enjoying the open road. Known for his generosity and kind heart, he was always ready to help others by providing thoughtful words of advice.
The family would like to thank the Extra Mural Program, Doctors and nurses of the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital and the Oncology Center in Bathurst and Moncton for the excellent care given to Marc during his illness.
The family will receive relatives and friends after 1 p.m. Monday October 28, 2024, at Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, from where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m.
In memory of Marc, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or a favorite charity would be appreciated by the family.
