It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Wilfred (Wilf) Temple of Beresford, which occurred on December 6, 2024, at the age of 73.
Born in Bishop's Falls, NL, he was the son of the late Stanley and Cedella (Wiseman) Temple.
Wilf is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna; his two daughters, Talley (Mickey) Sullivan of Beresford and Kirsten (Daniel) Lanteigne of Bathurst; and his three adored granddaughters, Savanna Pitre, Jestina Pitre, and Kerrissa Sullivan.
He also leaves to mourn his three brothers, Willison (late Beverly) Temple, Dale (Brenda) Temple, and Victor (Gloria) Temple, and one sister, Fay (Abner) Layden.
He was predeceased by his sister, Ruby Reid.
Wilf moved to Bathurst in 1973 to pursue his career at Brunswick Mines as a surveyor/draftsman until 1999. He later worked as a transport driver for Highland from 1999 to 2010.
Over the years, Wilf was actively involved in the Bathurst community, participating in ground search and rescue, underground rescue, and serving as a lifetime member of the salmon association.
Anyone who knew Wilf appreciated his sense of humor, quick wit, and his love for singing and songwriting. He wrote his own lyrics based on the many gatherings and adventures he experienced over the years, from fishing and camping canoe trips to hunting, skiing, and boat-turning parties. He will be deeply missed by all.
In accordance with Wilf's wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral. A graveside service will be held in Newfoundland in the summer of 2025.
In memory of Wilf, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada, or the Kidney Foundation.
