Bathurst - It is with great sadness that we the family, announce the passing of our father, Eric Lavigne, formerly of South Bathurst, which occurred Saturday February 1, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Bernard “Bert” and Helena “Tootsie” (Blanchard) Lavigne.

Eric was a miner and worked many places in the world. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 40 years Yvonne (Comeau) Lavigne, his children, Steven (Ray)of Surrey BC, Lloyd (Heidi) of Bathurst, Kevin (Lynn) of Bathurst; stepchildren: Claudette Duclos (Robert) of Petit Rocher, Jean Claude Doucet (Lise) Tremblay, Nancy Doucet (Roger) Petit-Rocher, Barbara Roy (Donald) Tremblay, Louis Doucet (Diane) Beresford.

His 15 grandchildren’s, Tyler, Bradley, Chelsey, Chad, Rene, Denis, Melissa, Annick, Cynthia, Jacques, Philippe, Alain, Marc, Caroline, Mathieu and 22 great grandchildren: Kyson, Remington, Emma, Mégane, Charlie, Selena, Benjamin, William, Amelie, Éloïse, Audrey, Zoé, Zacharie, Raphaël, William, Adèle, Julien, Anthony, Gabriel, Nathan, Kaelle and Livia. 

Four brothers: Rudolph Lavigne (Carmella), Maurice Lavigne (Anita), Thomas Lavigne (Rosella), Sydney Lavigne (late Pierrette) all of Bathurst.

One sister: Joan Losier (late Edmond) of Four Roads.

A sister-in-law, Jean Lavigne of Bathurst.

Several nieces and nephews.

Eric will be dearly miss by those who knew him. He was a man of not many words, always saying that’s GOOD. Eric loved his camp, his “Happy Place” at Canoe landing lake, where we will always cherish happy memories.

Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by a brother, Norman.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday February 7, 2025, at 2 p.m. from Elhatton’s Funeral Home chapel. A reception will be held immediately following the service.
