Growing up in rural New Brunswick to a commercial fisherman and farmer father, led to a love of the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Hobbies that he enjoyed his entire life. Forestry was a natural choice as a career. After graduating from forest ranger school, Joe started his career in 1962 as a timber cruiser for Bathurst Power and Paper. Joe worked at his career throughout northern Ontario until he left his role as camp superintendent with Great Lakes Forest Products in Thunder Bay Ontario in 1981 to pursue a new career in financial planning. Joe moved his family back to New Brunswick where he had a successful career until he retired in 2003.
