Bathurst - Bernard "Bernie" Couture, 68, of Miramichi Ave., Bathurst, passed away on Thursday (October 19, 2006) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Bathurst he was the adopted son of the late Abbé and Alexina (Hachey) Couture, his birthmother was the late Elizabeth Roy.
He worked for the Department of Parks & Recreation for the City of Bathurst and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was pre-deceased by an infant daughter; Angela, brothers; Wilfred, Marshal, sister; Florence, step-sisters; Lillian and Evelyn.
The body is resting at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning (October 21, 2006) at 11:00 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst. Burial will be in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, St. Mary's Ave. Visiting hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral.
