Bathurst - Nelson Cowan, 88, of Pleasant St., Bathurst, passed away on Wednesday (August 1, 2007) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Island River, NB, he was the son of the late Joseph and Léontine (Chiasson) Cowan.
He worked at the former Consolidated-Bathurst and was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club.
His is survived by his wife, Brigitte (Chiasson) Cowan.

15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by 3 brothers; Hugh, Howard, Raymond and 2 sisters: Emily Glazier and Maybel Lanteigne.
The body will rest after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday afternoon (August 3, 2007) at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Friday from noon until time of Funeral.
