Bathurst - Julien Légère, 82, of the Villa Chaleur, Bathurst, passed away on Tuesday (August 7, 2007) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Bas-Caraquet, he was the son of the late Augustin and Agathe (Chiasson) Légère.
Julien joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942 and worked on Aircraft electronics. He retired after 23 years of service. He told many stories of his travels throughout Canada and Europe and especially the beautiful Churches in France, Paris and Rome. After his retirement, he worked for a few years distributing Snap on Tools in Montreal, then retired again. He moved to Bathurst and joined the Gowan Brae Golf and Country Club and loved the game so much he spent his winters in Florida and summers in Moncton. His last 8 years were spent at the Villa Chaleur and joined the Squire Green Gold Club. The last 2 winters he was a member of the Bathurst Curling Club where he curled twice a week with the seniors. Julien will be sadly missed by all of us.

He was pre-deceased by sisters; Margaret, Bernadette, Edwige and a brother; Ludger.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday afternoon (August 9, 2007) at 2:00 p.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Gregory Culligan officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cathedral Cemetery. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital or a favorite charity would be appreciated by the family.
