Doreen White
June 11, 1932 – March 19, 2010
It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of Doreen (Aube) White at St. Lawrence Lodge Nursing Home in Brockville, Ontario on Friday (March 19, 2010). She was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2004 and succumbed to complications from recent strokes.
Born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick to the late Gladys (Carroll) Aube and the late Hector Aube, Doreen spent most of her childhood and adult life in Bathurst, New Brunswick. Doreen was an active member in the Bathurst community; she participated in the Holy Family Church parish choir and CWL, Girl Guides and enjoyed various recreational activities including bowling, curling, golfing and bridge. She was instrumental in initiating line dancing at the K.C. Irving Center and enjoyed teaching classes. Doreen had a diverse professional life that spanned administrative duties at Bathurst City Hall and The New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources and finally took up teaching commerce related courses at the New Brunswick Community College.
Doreen was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by her husband Doran White and three children including Catherine Van Vliet of Brockville, ON, Anne White of Armstrong, BC and, Steve White (Wendy Carron) of Hamilton, ON as well as three grandchildren Eric, Kiersten and Anna.
In honour of her spirit Doreen’s family invites you to attend a mass at the Holy Family Church on Thursday afternoon (March 25, 2010) at 2 p.m. followed by a reception in the Church basement. For anyone wishing to send donations in memory of Doreen, the family encourages donations to The Alzheimer Society.
