Bathurst - Lorenzo Poirier, 89, of Miramichi Ave., Bathurst, died Friday (May 7, 2004) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness.
Born in Caraquet, he was the son of the late John and Henriette (Dugas) Poirier.
He worked in construction for most of his life.
Besides his wife, the former Elizabeth Downing, he is survived by:

Charles Poirier (Thérèse) of Montreal, Que.
Jean Réal Poirier and
Edouard Poirier (Eva) both of Caraquet
2 Granddaughters: Julie and Hélène
3 Great-grandchildren: Alex, Mia and Annysia
Several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Livain; and sisters, Lucie and Francoise.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held on Monday afternoon (May 10, 2004) at 2:00 p.m. from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Rough Waters Dr., Bathurst. Burial was in the Holy Family Cemetery, St. Peter Ave. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst.
