1921 - 2013
It is with great sorrow that the family of Gerald Imhoff announce that he passed peacefully away of natural causes at his home, on Monday, September 30, 2013, in South Tetagouche in his ninety third year. Gerry, as he was widely known, was predeceased by his daughter, Wendy.
He leaves to mourn a wide circle of family and friends including his wife, Mary (nee Davies) of 66 years.
Three sons: Barry (Donna) of St. John’s, NF, Brad (Cathy Summers) of Georgetown, ON, Chris (Shelly Riley) of Oakville, ON.
Five daughters: June Tebo (Murray) and Kim Imhoff (Darcy Culshaw) both of Calgary, AB, Audrey Renwick (Glen) of South Tetagouche, Heather Imhoff (Derek McDonald) of Dartmouth, NS and Jodi Imhoff (Jeff Adams) of Bridgewater, NS.
18 grandchildren: Andrew, Ryan, Joshua, Nancy, Michael, Abbi, Tylor, Nicole, Kyle, Devan, Neil, Madeline, Mitchell, Kristopher, Aiden, Patrick, Mackenzie and Colin; 3 great grandchildren: Alivia, Camden and Declan.
Gerry was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He served in World War II in Canada and overseas with the Royal Canadian Army and was a member of the Herman J. Good, V.C. Br. 18 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst.
Special thanks to the many people who contributed to his care during his final days. In particular his family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Lina Lagacé (his home care angel), Nicole Moreau (whose intervention provided much needed help in keeping him at home during his final days), Sophie Haché (who worked tirelessly to ensure his home care benefits were in order from DVA), the Extra Mural Nurses (for their constant availability) and lastly the VON nurses who contributed regularly to his care during the past few years.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Society.
His family wishes to invite his friends and acquaintances to celebrate his long and eventful life journey at his home in South Tetagouche from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday October 4th.
