1926 – 2013
Loy Winona Chamberlain, 87, of Paradise Road, Stonehaven, passed away on Friday (October 11, 2013) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a short illness. Born in ''Turkeytown'' Clifton, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Emily (Jagoe) Knowles.
She was predeceased by her husband, John E.W. Chamberlain in 1964 and a son, Edgar in 2011.
She is survived by a daughter, Helen with who she resided at home in Paradise.
Four sisters: Marjory (Tillie) (late Jack) Vaughan of Lions Head, Ont., Freda (Kenneth) Carey of Canobie South, Inez (late Donald) Jagoe of New Bandon and Mildred (Duncan) Eddy of Clifton.
Several nieces and nephews.
Godchildren: Carol Knowles, Etha Ellis, Mary Jagoe and Karla Smith.
She was predeceased by three brothers: Ellis, George and Walter Knowles.
Loy was an active member of Christ Church Anglican Clifton, a founding member of the Farmers Market, Munroe Street, Bathurst. A 25 years volunteer for the Terry Fox Run in Pokeshaw. She enjoyed gardening in her early years, her beautiful flower garden, making pickles, jams and jellys, baking, cooking and knitting. She made and gave away 100's of afghans to family, friends and community members. She was very close to her four sisters and their families and helped out when called upon to do so. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitations will be held on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from Christ Church, Clifton.
Donations in memory of Loy, can be made to Christ Church Anglican, Clifton, Bathurst SPCA or some other charity of the donors choice.
