1943 – 2014
It is with great sadness that the family of Diane (Cole) Armstrong announces her death at age 71 which occurred the evening of June 17, 2014 at Chaleur General Hospital in Bathurst after a brief illness.
Born in Bathurst and lived in Big River and Youghall. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Florella (Matthews) Cole.
She spent her summers at the beach with her children, and had many friends from the Youghall Knitting Club. She was a busy homemaker with her five children in her younger days. Later in life she spent her time taking care of elderly people in their homes. No matter where she lived she always had many flowers and loved to garden. She especially loved to tend to her friends and children’s gardens. She loved it so much that she shared her knowledge of gardening with many. She enjoyed sitting at the coffee shop and chatting with her coffee friends. Even at the end of her battle she never lost her sense of humour and her quick wit that would make people laugh. She will be missed by many and always loved.
She is survived by four daughters: Pauline (Reggie Boucher), Elaine Armstrong both of Bathurst, Diane (Greg) Belliveau of Texas, Pamela (Silas Reuben) of Cochrane, Ontario; Waldron Armstrong, father of her children and her beloved grandchildren: Crystal, Christopher, Cody, Chelsey, Kai, Kaedan, Myken, Keewatin, Kerry, Peyton and Reba who always called her Nanny.
Her special furry companion Goldie whom she loved dearly and many special friends and nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by a sister Janice Legacy of Moncton and two brothers: Charles and Wayne (Kathleen) Cole of Big River.
Sisters in law: Carol Beaumont, Betty Ann Cole and Doady Armstrong.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Craig; one brother, Clifford Cole and sister, Charlotte Cole and four half sisters: Mona Roache, Carmel Ettinger and Marilyn Robinson, Lorna Colleja and a half brother, Kevin Culligan.
We would like to extend our thanks to Dr. Wade, the special doctors and nurses in the Palliative Care Unit, Extramural nurses and staff, and all who cared for her at home and in the hospital.
Visitation will be held on Monday June 30, 2014 from 12 noon at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), unitil time of Funeral.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday June 30, 2014 at 2 p.m. from St-George’s Anglican Church, King Ave., Bathurst.
