1931 - 2014
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Phyllis Furlong of Bathurst, on October 24, 2014 at Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 83. She was the daughter of the late Harrison and the late Floretta (Bateman) Ronalds. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Sidney Ward, in 1969 and her second husband, Clarence Furlong, in 1997; and brothers Harry (late Martha) & Glendon (Marjorie) Ronalds.
She is survived by one brother Lowell Ronalds (Alice) and sisters Marjorie Henderson (late Wallace) and Grace Howatt (late Kelsey).
Phyllis leaves to grieve: daughters Nancy Ward, Polly Wesenberg, & Marlene Couture (James) and a son John Furlong. A loving Grammie to Tara, Clay, &, Amy Wesenberg; Josiane, Claudie, & Erika Furlong; Rick & Joel Couture. Great Grammie to one great granddaughter Aniston Anderson, who was the apple of her eye. Feece to her ‘precious Chrissy’, Christine Wood (Paul). Godmother to Pauline Barter (Joe). Auntie Phyllis to several nieces & nephews. All of whom will miss her dearly.
Phyllis was a valued employee at W.J. Kent & Co. for 44 years. She was a faithful member and supporter of St. George’s Anglican Church her entire life. She worked tirelessly on many endeavours for the betterment of her family, church, & community and was a founding member of the Flowers of Hope School. Her warm smiles, kind heart, and sparkling blue eyes will be missed by many. She will miss her baseball games and cheering for the Blue Jays.
The family will receive relatives and friends after 2 p.m. Thursday at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 31st, 2014, at 11 a.m., from St. George’s Anglican Church, King Ave., Bathurst. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Donations in memory of Phyllis may be made to St. George’s Anglican Church or a favourite charity.
