Bathurst - Miklos "Nick" Kovats, 81, of Keith Ave., passed away on Saturday December 13, 2014, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.

Born in Hungary, he was the son of the late Ferenc and Margit (Kiss) Kovacs.

He was the owner of North Shore Aluminum Company.   The founder, past president, coach and trainer of the Bathurst Amateur Boxing Club for 34 years, as well as elected president of the Canadian Boxing Association.  Nick was a 3rd Degree member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Knights of Columbus of Bathurst.

Survived by his wife Joan (Daigle) Kovats.

His four children: Nicholas of Toronto, Kathleen of Montreal, Ava of Ottawa and Maria of France.

Nick had seven grandchildren: Antal, Amanda, Mia, Maja, Ariane, Maksim and Sienna.

He is survived by his two brothers and two sisters:  Tamàs Kovacs (Rozsa) of Nova Scotia, Laszlo Kovacs (Gabriella) of Hungary, Margit Ifi (Joseph) of Montreal and Éva Mesterhazy (Gyorgy) of Hungary.

He vas predeceased by two brothers: Ferenc (Magdi) of Hungary and Gabor (Dolly) of Hungary.

The body will rest at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Visiting hours are Monday, December 15th 2:00 to 4:00 pm & 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Tuesday, December 16th: noon to 2 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 pm on Tuesday, December 16 2014, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew Street, Bathurst.

Donations in memory of Nick may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association.
